2009 Swiss Selection - Date TBA
Switzerland caught between a rock and a schlager place?
SSR clearly don't know what the hell to do next.
The reason why I am saying that is pretty clear. Over the last few years they have been not knowing what Europe wants. It didn't want Siegel, It didn't want Vanilla Ninja, It didn't EVEN want DJ Bobo....
And so, in another disparate attempt to gain some votes at a Eurovision Song Contest, SFdrs have announced.......
.... absolutely no change in how the songs are to be chosen for Eurovision 2009.
That's right, No change.... At all..... nothing..... nada.....zero!!
They are still persisting in the fact that you need to have had a top 50 hit at least once ( and sold 4 records and a piece of Gruyere cheese to get it) and you must be able to perform. (If only someone had told that to Paulo, we'd have been ok) and SF will invite several "leading Swiss Showbuisness names"......... so *thats* alright then!!
However, they HAVE said that the singer doesn't have to be a Swiss National or Swiss Resident, so that is a good thing - i suppose..... and we, the Eurovision "fan", doesn't have to be put through the pain of a Swiss final either, because SF have said that it will be another internal selection.
Fascinating Facts : Switzerland have only been in the final once since 2004.
Two wins for Switzerland in the history of this thing. The first one in 1956, by Lys Assis - the Grandmother of the Contest, and the second one in 1988 by Celery Dion.
Ahh well - even the Excel Spreadsheet jury gave this one nothing!
